Jinhae District of Changwon Special City Launches Full-Scale School Zone Improvement Project
Completion of School Zone Safety Improvement and Commuting Environment Projects
Jinhae District of Changwon Special City, Gyeongnam Province, began its second-half school zone improvement project in October 2025 to create a safer commuting environment for children and prevent accidents. The district is now accelerating efforts to complete the project.

View original imageThe school zone improvement project involves measures to help drivers easily recognize and pay attention to school zones, such as installing start and end road markings, yellow crosswalks, and protective fences. The project also includes the installation of anti-advertisement sheets on utility poles and traffic signals to prevent the attachment of advertisements, as well as sidewalk block maintenance to enhance pedestrian safety and prevent accidents.
This year, Jinhae District allocated a total budget of 1.7 billion won for the school zone improvement project. In the first half of the year, the district completed commuting route maintenance at Dongbu Elementary School (300 million won) and Pung-ho Elementary School (600 million won). In the second half, projects are underway at Yongwon Elementary School and seven other locations (800 million won), including sidewalk maintenance, installation of traffic safety facilities, and fences.
Additionally, to improve visibility, maintenance was completed at six locations including International Kindergarten (20 million won) in the first half of the year. In the second half, the district plans to carry out maintenance at six locations including Namsan Elementary School (21 million won), as well as auxiliary equipment upgrades for pedestrian safety within school zones (100 million won).
