The Seongnam Senior Industry Innovation Center, operated by Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sangjin), was awarded the Minister of Health and Welfare Award on November 20, in recognition of its contribution to the development of the age-friendly industry.

View original imageThe award ceremony took place at 2:30 p.m. at Lee Kun-hee Hall, Cancer Research Institute, Seoul National University, during the "2025 Age-Friendly Industry Policy Forum and Award Ceremony for Contributors to the Promotion of the Age-Friendly Industry."
This commendation is presented to organizations, companies, and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in establishing an industrial foundation to respond to an aging society and supporting the demonstration of senior-customized products and services. Seongnam City added significance by being selected as the only institution among the recipients.
The Seongnam Senior Industry Innovation Center, located in Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu, was established in 2012 as Korea's first hub institution for the age-friendly industry. The center has built a senior living lab-based demonstration platform and operates a senior evaluation group of about 500 members, systematically supporting the improvement of age-friendly product quality and their entry into the market.

In particular, in 2025, through the "Exhibition Support Project for Excellent Age-Friendly Products," the center not only helped domestic small and medium-sized enterprises expand their sales channels, but also established an integrated support system encompassing demonstration, certification, and exhibition, making a significant contribution to the creation of an age-friendly industry ecosystem.
