LIV Golf Member Stenson to Return to DP World Tour

Six Career PGA Tour Wins, Moved to LIV in 2022
One LIV Golf Victory, Relegated After Disappointing Season
Henrik Stenson of Sweden is returning to the DP World Tour.
On November 18 (local time), Golf Channel, a U.S.-based golf media outlet, reported that "Stenson, who played in LIV Golf, will return to the DP World Tour for the 2026 season after paying a fine of over 1 million pounds (approximately 1.93 billion won)."
This year, Stenson finished 52nd in the LIV Golf points standings, which is within the relegation zone, resulting in his expulsion from the league. His only options were to attempt to requalify through the LIV Golf Promotion event or to compete on the Asian Tour.

Stenson, who is 49 years old this year, won the major championship The Open in 2016. He recorded a total of 11 wins on the DP World Tour and 6 wins on the PGA Tour before transferring to LIV Golf in July 2022. At that time, he was serving as captain of the European Ryder Cup team, but effectively abandoned his position to join LIV Golf, which is backed by Saudi Arabian capital, drawing significant criticism.
Especially in the early days of LIV Golf, both the PGA Tour and DP World Tour warned players that "if you move to LIV Golf, you cannot play in the Ryder Cup" in an attempt to prevent transfers. However, Stenson, who was serving as the captain of the European Ryder Cup team, chose to move to LIV Golf, making the situation between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf appear awkward. After playing in LIV Golf, Stenson posted disappointing results this year, leaving him without a clear stage for the 2026 season.
