On-Site Promotion at 121 Major Rest Areas Nationwide Over Seven Days
Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province has successfully concluded a nationwide highway promotional marketing campaign to ensure the success of the 2026 Ice Nation Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival.

View original imageFrom November 10 to 16, over the course of seven days, the county completed an intensive promotional tour at 121 major highway rest areas nationwide, ranging from Chuncheon to Goseong in South Gyeongsang Province, the southernmost tip of the country.
The visits to rest areas spanned nine major highway routes across the country, with the total driving distance exceeding 5,000 kilometers.
The promotional team first visited 35 rest areas in both directions along the Gyeongbu Expressway, which connects Seoul and Busan, including Giheung, Anseong, Cheonan, Gimcheon, Chilgok, Gyeongju, and Tongdosa.
On the Jungang Expressway, they visited 14 rest areas including Chuncheon, Wonju, Danyang, Andong, and Gunwi. On the Seohaean Expressway, they covered 20 rest areas such as Hwaseong, Seosan, Daecheon, Hongseong, and Gunsan. On the Honam Expressway, they visited 13 rest areas including Yesan, Jeongeup, Gokseong, and Suncheon.
Along the Honam and Yeongdong Expressways, they promoted the festival at 27 locations including Yesan, Iseo, Jeongeup, Gokseong, Suncheon, Gangneung, Pyeongchang, Yeoju, Deokpyeong, and Yongin. On the Jungbu Expressway, they promoted the festival at 9 locations including Hanam, Icheon, Eumseong, and Ochang.
In addition, they visited 10 locations on the Daejeon-Tongyeong Expressway, including Deogyusan, Hamyang, Sancheong, and Goseong, and carried out promotional activities at 6 other rest areas on routes such as Seoul-Yangyang and Donghae Expressways, ensuring no location was missed in promoting the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival.
With the cooperation of Korea Expressway Corporation, the county posted Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival posters at each rest area and distributed informational leaflets and souvenirs.
The highway marketing campaign for the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Festival is an annual event that symbolizes Hwacheon County's commitment to on-site administration.
Although the employees of the Tourism Policy Division at the county office are juggling administrative work alongside festival preparations, they travel across the nation's highways every year to deliver even one more poster or leaflet to citizens in pursuit of the festival's success.

Choi Moonsun, the governor of Hwacheon County, stated, "We are actively working to attract both domestic and international tourists," and added, "We will do our utmost to prepare until the festival opens on January 10 next year, so that we can provide the greatest enjoyment to the visitors who are looking forward to the Sancheoneo Festival."
