Jeonju City: "Influenza Outbreak... Follow Infectious Disease Prevention Guidelines"
Urging Vaccination, Personal Hygiene Practices, and Mask-Wearing
Jeonju City Public Health Center in North Jeolla Province announced on November 18 that, as the influenza epidemic for the 2025-2026 season is increasing more rapidly than in previous years, it is urging the public to follow infectious disease prevention guidelines to protect high-risk groups and prevent community spread.
According to the influenza sentinel surveillance conducted by clinics managed by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, the number of suspected influenza cases has been steadily rising each week since the "Influenza Epidemic Advisory" was issued on October 17.
In fact, the proportion of suspected influenza cases during the 45th week of 2025 (November 2-8) was 50.7 per 1,000 outpatients, more than double the previous week (44th week, 22.8 per 1,000), and significantly higher than the same period last year (4.0 per 1,000).
This year, influenza cases are increasing across all age groups, but the incidence rate is particularly high among children and adolescents.
The Jeonju City Public Health Center is maintaining group outbreak surveillance and continuous monitoring systems, and is actively promoting compliance with influenza prevention guidelines within the community.
Influenza is a representative acute respiratory infection that spreads in winter, characterized by sudden high fever, cough, and sore throat. The highest number of cases typically occurs from November to April each year. For high-risk groups such as those aged 65 and older, the infection can progress to severe conditions like pneumonia, making it especially important to adhere to prevention guidelines.
To prevent influenza, it is essential to: ▲receive vaccinations ▲follow personal hygiene practices and proper cough etiquette ▲avoid crowded places and wear a mask when visiting such locations ▲refrain from going to work or school and rest if influenza symptoms are suspected.
