This evaluation has been conducted annually since 2019 to assess the current status of social economy policies and to identify and disseminate outstanding cases. This year, the evaluation covered 17 metropolitan cities and provinces and 226 basic local governments nationwide, reviewing four areas-policy foundation, level of support, achievements, and governance-across 17 evaluation indicators. As a result, one organization was selected for the Minister of Employment and Labor Award, two organizations for the Co-Chairperson of the National Network for Social Economy Vitalization Award, and two organizations for the President’s Award from the National Association of Local Governments for Social Solidarity Economy.

Geumcheon District received high marks for establishing a sustainable growth foundation for local social economy organizations, expanding public procurement and market access support, promoting business cooperation among enterprises, providing budget and human resources support, and formulating policies through public-private governance. In particular, the Geumcheon Community Economy Integrated Support Center was recognized for playing a key role in expanding the local social solidarity economy ecosystem, from discovering new village and social economy organizations to providing tailored support for their independence.

The award ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on November 26 at the auditorium of the Korea YWCA Federation (4th floor, Page Myeongdong) in Myeongdong-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul.

Yoo Sunghoon, Mayor of Geumcheon District, stated, “This award is the result of our collective efforts with various social economy stakeholders in the community,” adding, “We will continue to actively support the creation of a people-centered economy and a social economy ecosystem where reciprocity and solidarity thrive.”
