Emphasis on a "One Team" Organizational Culture
Lee Jeongryeol, the newly appointed Vice Chairperson of the Personal Information Protection Commission (pictured), emphasized to staff on November 17 that "what matters most is the spirit of doing whatever the people want," highlighting the necessity of proactive administration.
At his inauguration ceremony held at the Government Complex Seoul that day, he expressed his commitment to fostering an organizational culture where employees care for one another and value and protect personal information.
He noted that, as the Personal Information Protection Commission has now been in operation for five years and is composed of staff from various ministries and diverse backgrounds, it is important to communicate and be considerate as "one team" and "one family."
The new Vice Chairperson described the commission as "having grown from a small but strong organization into a mid-sized institution now over five years old," adding, "The commission has encouraged looking toward the future, working more proactively, and innovating and challenging itself to discover new things."
He pledged to continue shaping the commission into "an organization that works proactively, encourages challenges, and does not fear failure." He also urged everyone to keep in mind that by working to protect the personal information of the public, society as a whole can become safer.
He went on to say, "What the commission needs most is not a 'can-do' attitude, but a spirit of 'making things happen if the people desire it.' I am well aware that our work is always full of new challenges and that it is difficult to create something out of nothing, but let us take on these challenges with passion."
He also promised to do his utmost to ensure that employees who take the initiative and work proactively and boldly will be appropriately rewarded.
