Traditional Liquor Experience Festival at Incheon Open Port District on 22-23... "Revitalizing Local Breweries"
The city of Incheon and the Incheon Tourism Organization will host the '2025 Sangsang Platform Sulsul Festa,' a multi-cultural festival aimed at exploring new possibilities for traditional liquor culture and revitalizing local breweries in Incheon. The event will take place from November 22 to 23 at the Sangsang Platform, located at Pier 8 of Incheon Inner Port.
This event is part of Incheon's 'Jemulpo Renaissance (Old Downtown Revitalization Project) Open Port District Special Program.' It has been designed to allow people to enjoy traditional liquors in a modern way, focusing on local breweries, food, and hands-on content. A total of 32 breweries from across the country will participate, offering visitors a wide range of experiences to taste and learn about traditional liquors.
Twelve Incheon-based breweries, including Incheon Beer and Soseongju, as well as seven local food brands, will participate, presenting traditional liquor pairing menus and their signature products. The public-private partnership model, centered on Incheon local businesses, is expanding with the participation of various breweries nationwide, and is expected to broaden the network of the local liquor and food industries.
During the festival, a variety of hands-on programs will be offered, including makgeolli-making, traditional liquor cocktail classes, and soap-making with liquor lees. The goal is to make traditional liquor culture more accessible and lower entry barriers by providing content that allows participants to learn and create alongside professional instructors. In addition, KOVEA, a leading outdoor company representing Incheon, will participate, presenting a collaborative model in which local businesses and the event grow together.
The city of Incheon is implementing various support measures to foster the traditional liquor industry as a regional specialized industry and to expand its distribution channels. In 2021, the city enacted the 'Ordinance on the Promotion and Support of the Local Traditional Liquor Industry,' which established a comprehensive support system. This includes developing breweries into tourism and cultural spaces, organizing promotional events linked to major Incheon events, supporting participation in domestic and international liquor fairs, building online distribution networks, and providing business consulting.
Yoo Jisang, President of the Incheon Tourism Organization, stated, "Sulsul Festa will serve as a venue where Incheon's local breweries, food brands, and companies, along with various other local brands, collaborate to reinterpret the region's unique locality in a modern way."
