LG Display Wins Two CES Innovation Awards for World-First Automotive Display Technologies
Selected as a CES Innovation Award Winner by the Consumer Technology Association
Dual-View OLED and UDC-IR OLED for Vehicles
Single Display Offers Different Content for Left and Right Viewing Angles
True 'Full Screen' with Invisible Camera Hole
LG Display announced on November 17 that it has received Innovation Awards at CES 2026, the world’s largest information technology and home appliance exhibition, for its world-first 'Dual-View OLED for Vehicles' and 'UDC-IR OLED for Vehicles'.
The Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which organizes CES, selects and announces the most innovative exhibits each year. This time, LG Display had two products recognized for their innovation. The company’s Dual-View OLED for Vehicles and UDC-IR OLED for Vehicles were particularly praised for maximizing space utilization, delivering outstanding picture quality, and meeting standards for safety, reliability, and durability, thereby creating differentiated customer value in the 'vehicle entertainment' sector.
The Dual-View OLED for Vehicles is the world’s first automotive OLED solution that allows the driver to view navigation while the front passenger simultaneously watches movies or online video services (OTT) on a single display. When installed in the center of the rear seats, two passengers on either side can each watch different content. By maximizing the use of limited in-car space, it enables more flexible interior vehicle design.
The Dual-View OLED for Vehicles features an optimized pixel structure, ensuring that when the driver touches and operates the navigation screen, it does not affect the entertainment screen for the passenger. This enables personalized infotainment for each occupant. In addition, the use of a tandem OLED structure delivers superior picture quality. The display is highly durable, operating reliably in extreme temperatures from minus 40 degrees Celsius to 85 degrees Celsius.
The UDC-IR OLED for Vehicles is a new product that, for the first time in the world, achieves a true 'full screen' by concealing the camera within the display. It was developed in collaboration between LG Display and LG Innotek.
LG Display increased the screen transmittance in the camera area and designed and applied an optimal algorithm to ensure that the camera area is indistinguishable from the driver’s viewpoint, making the camera hole for driver monitoring invisible. In addition, LG Innotek’s high-definition IR camera and image correction software were applied so that the camera can accurately monitor the driver’s movements.
Recently, 'driver monitoring cameras' have been gaining attention in the global automotive display market. These cameras monitor the driver’s condition to ensure safe driving, and there are discussions about making them mandatory by law. In response, LG Display has decided to proactively address global market changes by integrating driver monitoring cameras while maximizing both the functionality and aesthetics of the display.
