Namyangju City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwangdeok) announced on the 14th that it had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korea Medical Devices Industry Association (Chairman Kim Youngmin) to successfully establish the Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex and to revitalize the medical device industry.

View original imageThis agreement marks the first case of Namyangju City entering into such a partnership with an industry association, and is expected to serve as an important opportunity to strengthen the foundation for attracting investment and fostering cooperation across the advanced industries sector, including medical devices, artificial intelligence (AI), and advanced manufacturing.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, Chairman Kim Youngmin, and other related officials. Both organizations agreed to promote the attraction and investment of medical device companies in the Wangsuk Urban High-Tech Industrial Complex, and to cooperate comprehensively on industry development, market expansion, and overseas advancement. They also pledged to work together to build a foundation for the advanced manufacturing (medical device) industry and to nurture specialized talent.
The medical device industry, based on convergent technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology, is considered a future core industry with high growth potential. The city plans to accelerate its strategy to attract advanced industries, taking this agreement as a momentum.
In addition, the agreement is expected to contribute to attracting investment in the Wangsuk District and revitalizing the regional economy by creating jobs for young people. The combination of the association's expertise and the city's industrial infrastructure is anticipated to establish a regional win-win industrial ecosystem model.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "Attracting companies is a key task for designing the city's future and transforming the lives of citizens," adding, "This agreement is an important milestone that will enhance the execution of the 'Namyangju Industrial Ecosystem Transformation' and lay the foundation for the growth of advanced industries, including medical devices."
