Kim Dongyeon: "Support for Medical Treatment of Bucheon Jeil Market Victims, Psychological Counseling for Merchants, and Facility Restoration"
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dongyeon expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the Bucheon Jeil Market accident. He also promised to provide active support to ensure that there are no disruptions in the medical treatment of the injured.
On the 13th, in a post on his social networking service (SNS), Governor Kim wrote, "I am on my way back from the site of the Bucheon Jeil Market accident," adding, "First of all, I pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in today's accident and extend my deepest condolences to their families."
He continued, "I also wish for the swift recovery of the injured citizens," and added, "As soon as I heard the news of the accident, I immediately instructed that there be no disruptions in the treatment of the injured and that the subsequent situation, including any additional casualties, be closely monitored."
In particular, he stated, "We will also provide psychological support for merchants and citizens who must have been greatly shocked by this accident," and added, "We will thoroughly oversee follow-up measures, including the restoration of damaged market facilities and safety inspections to prevent further damage."
Earlier, at around 10:55 a.m. on the same day, a truck driven by a man in his 60s crashed into Bucheon Jeil Market, resulting in the deaths of two women in their 70s and injuries of varying severity to 18 others.
