Geochang County Begins First Purchase of 2025 Public Grain Reserve Rice
Starting in Geochang-eup, 2,104 Tons of Dried Rice to Be Purchased Over 13 Days
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 13th that it has made its first purchase of "2025 Public Grain Reserve dried rice" at Geochang Green.
To procure the 2025 Public Grain Reserve rice, Geochang RP purchased 1,477 tons of freshly harvested rice from October 1 to November 11. For dried rice, the first purchase began in Geochang-eup on November 12, and a total of 2,104 tons is expected to be purchased at 23 locations by December 4.
This year, the varieties of rice purchased for the Public Grain Reserve are Haedap and Seomgwang. The interim payment will be 40,000 won per 40kg and will be provided first, while the final purchase price, reflecting the national average farmgate rice price, will be determined at the end of December and paid to the farmers.

County Governor Koo Inmo expressed his gratitude, saying, "I thank the farmers for their hard work in harvesting rice despite poor crop conditions caused by frequent recent weather anomalies." He also urged, "Since there is a lot of movement of agricultural machinery and vehicles at the purchase sites, please pay special attention to preventing safety accidents."
