South Chungcheong Attracts $171 Million in Foreign Investment Including 'Arab Capital'... Surpasses $4 Billion Under 8th Administration
Governor Kim Taeheum: "5 Billion Dollar Target Within Reach... South Chungcheong Set to Become a Prime Global Investment Destination"
Despite the global economic downturn, South Chungcheong Province has accelerated its foreign investment attraction efforts, securing investments totaling 171 million dollars (approximately 240 billion won) from four foreign-invested companies from four different countries.
With this achievement, the cumulative amount of foreign investment attracted since the launch of the 8th popularly elected administration has surpassed 4.147 billion dollars, bringing the province closer to its goal of reaching 5 billion dollars.
On November 10, at an investment agreement ceremony held in the main conference room, Governor Kim Taeheum, representatives of investment companies from the United States, the United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, and other countries, as well as the heads of four cities and counties in the province, signed investment attraction agreements.
Through this agreement, global companies-including Korea Matheson Specialty Gas (United States), HiTi (United Arab Emirates) and UI Helicopter, ABB Robotics (Switzerland), and Dongsin Polymer (a Korea-Japan joint venture)-will invest a total of 171 million dollars in the regions of Asan, Yesan, Cheonan, and Hongseong.
According to the province, Korea Matheson Specialty Gas will invest 81 million dollars to establish a second semiconductor specialty gas plant in Inju-myeon, Asan.
HiTi and UI Helicopter plan to establish "UI Air Mobility" in Yesan and set up a manufacturing facility for heavy-duty unmanned cargo drones.
Additionally, ABB Robotics from Switzerland will set up an automation solutions facility in Cheonan with an investment of 20 million dollars, while Dongsin Polymer in Hongseong will expand its eco-friendly flooring (LVT) production line with an investment of 20 million dollars.
Governor Kim Taeheum stated, "South Chungcheong is the center of Korea's manufacturing industry and the most attractive region for global investment," adding, "By achieving our goal of attracting 5 billion dollars in foreign investment, we will become a global investment hub sought after by the world."
