The event has been held annually since 2023, making this its third year. This year’s conference was themed "Reframe the Core," emphasizing the need to fundamentally rethink the way safety and environment professionals work and enhance competitiveness amid rapidly changing business environments and technological advancements.
A total of 16 affiliates participated, including LG Corporation, LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG Uplus, LG CNS, D&O, and HSAD. More than 300 employees responsible for safety and environment at each company attended the event in person, along with safety and environment managers from overseas sites in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Mexico.
LG operates a Group Safety and Environment Council, composed of executives in charge of safety and environment at each company. All council members attended the event, including Park Junsung, Head of ESG at LG Corporation (Vice President) and chair of the council; Kwon Soonil, Head of Safety and Environment Center at LG Electronics (Executive Vice President); Park Byungchul, Chief Safety and Environment Officer (CSEO) at LG Chem (Executive Vice President); Kim Sunghee, CSEO at LG Display (Executive Vice President); Kim Gunwoo, CSEO at LG Uplus (Senior Vice President); Lee Minhyeong, CFO and CRO at LG HelloVision (Senior Vice President); and Yoon Gunno, Head of Safety, Environment, and Support at LG Science Park (Senior Vice President).
Employees participating in LG Shik explored outstanding safety and environment practices from other affiliates through sessions such as the "Best Practices Presentation" and discussed ways to apply these examples at their own sites. A total of 20 best practices were shared by eight companies: LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Chem, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG Uplus, and LG CNS. Notably, this year’s highlighted cases included LG Chem’s installation of artificial intelligence (AI) cameras on sit-down forklifts to prevent safety accidents, and LG CNS’s use of AI-powered CCTV to prevent data center fires-both recognized as significant improvements in workplace safety.
The event also featured lectures and panel discussions with renowned external experts in AI and robotics. On November 5, Jang Byungtak, Director of the Seoul National University AI Institute (Professor), delivered a keynote speech on "Paradigm Shifts in the Era of Great Transformation and the Application of Physical AI in Safety." On November 6, lectures and panel discussions were conducted by Seo Yongyun, Professor at Dongguk University; Lim Seongsu, Professor at Kyung Hee University; Ham Byungho, Professor at Korea National University of Transportation; and Oh Eunkyung, Director at the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
Additionally, during the event, LG selected a total of seven sites as "2025 LG Group Exemplary Safety and Environment Workplaces," based on evaluation indicators such as accident prevention activities, capability enhancement, and safety management at each company. Awards and prize money were presented to the selected sites. All programs of the event were broadcast live via an online website, and simultaneous interpretation in Chinese and Vietnamese was provided to assist employees at global sites.
Kwon Bongseok, COO (Vice Chairman) of LG Corporation, stated, "When observing the mindset cycle of successful people, what stands out is their determination and perseverance to push through with their initial resolve. The biggest obstacle is always complacency," adding, "I urge LG’s safety and environment professionals to never become complacent. If you remember your initial determination and continue to move forward with perseverance, LG will become the safest workplace."
