President Lee Stays at Presidential Office Instead of Accompanying External Schedule

According to the Presidential Office, Kim was originally scheduled to accompany President Lee on his inspection of wildfire response measures in Gangwon Province. However, following the President’s directive, she did not go to the site and is staying at the Yongsan Presidential Office.

The Presidential Office explained, “President Lee issued this instruction out of respect for the National Assembly,” adding, “Our position remains unchanged that if the National Assembly selects Kim as a witness, she will attend the committee session.”

As a result, it appears that Kim may be able to attend the committee session later in the afternoon, depending on the agreement between the ruling and opposition parties. On this day, the People Power Party insisted that Kim be called as a witness for the audit, while the Democratic Party of Korea argued that she should only attend in the morning due to the President’s schedule, which led to the failure to adopt her as a witness.
