A total of 18 representatives from Swiss financial institutions visited, and CEO Eunmi Lee and other executives and employees of Toss Bank welcomed the delegation.
During the event, Toss Bank shared its digital-driven innovation achievements and cases of expanding customer accessibility since its launch in 2021. The discussion covered customer-centric products and services, technology-based risk management, and approaches to include financially underserved groups. The rapid growth of Toss Bank and its potential as a banking platform also drew significant interest from the leaders.
The delegation inquired about the competitive structure of the Korean financial market, the role of fintech in the market, and digital payment systems. They also paid close attention to the balance between Korea’s regulatory environment and the innovations demonstrated by Toss Bank, expressing deep interest in the background of internet banks’ growth and their social roles.
This visit to Toss Bank was organized by the Embassy of Switzerland in Korea, with Swisscom-a leading Swiss ICT company-participating as a partner. In Switzerland, each of the 26 cantons has a “cantonal bank” established by the local government, which is responsible for the economy, financial infrastructure, and regional economy of its canton. The delegation, composed of top executives from major Swiss cantonal banks, is regarded as a core group of leaders in the Swiss financial ecosystem.
Christian Dieke, Head of Corporate Business at Swisscom, said, “I was deeply impressed by the agile culture embedded throughout the organization, which has enabled Toss Bank to continuously generate innovative ideas and turn them into tangible results, achieving break-even in just 21 months. Today’s visit to Toss Bank made it clear that Korea is setting and achieving even higher goals.”
