This demonstrates visible results from our population policies addressing low birth rates during the 8th local government term." He added, "To respond to the rapid changes in population structure, we must strengthen our capabilities across society so that marriage, childbirth, and parenting become happy choices."
He particularly emphasized the city's ongoing population policies and strategic projects to address low birth rates, saying, "We have implemented a variety of distinctive programs, including support for fertility treatment costs for couples with infertility, interest support for rental housing loans for households with newborns and no homes, issuance of baby accounts to celebrate births, and communication programs for unmarried youth. As a result, we received excellence awards at the Gyeonggi-do Low Birth Rate Response Best Practices Competition in both 2023 and 2025."
Regarding the upcoming College Scholastic Ability Test, which is just one week away, he said, "Please work closely with the Office of Education, police, fire department, and other relevant organizations to establish a comprehensive support system for traffic, noise, and safety. Provide meticulous support so that all test-takers can perform at their best in a safe and comfortable environment."
Mayor Lee also acknowledged the efforts of city employees, stating, "Since the data center fire at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon last September, the overall recovery rate has exceeded 90%, and most major systems have been normalized." He commended staff for maintaining administrative work without interruption despite the IT disruptions.
Furthermore, he noted, "Listening to the diverse voices of citizens is a basic duty and responsibility of public service, but we cannot overlook the reality of administrative resources being wasted on malicious or repetitive complaints." He called for swift and proactive responses to complaints that inconvenience citizens' daily lives, and urged a firm stance against malicious and repetitive complaints to ensure that unnecessary administrative resources are not wasted, emphasizing the need for wise and balanced complaint management.
Mayor Lee also announced, "Starting today (the 5th), 'RAD KOREA WEEK 2025' will be held at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 1, bringing together major exhibitions in advanced industries such as drones, robots, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital media technology." He added, "We aim to brand this as our city's flagship exhibition and develop it into a platform for cooperation and technology exchange among advanced technology industries, which will serve as an important opportunity to create synergy for future industries." ※ RAD: Robot, AI, Drone·UAM, Digital Media Tech & future
He further requested that related departments not only provide comprehensive support for the event but also work to ensure that the influx of large numbers of visitors leads to extended stays and increased consumption in Goyang, thereby benefiting the local economy.
Afterward, Mayor Lee received reports on major issues for each department under the 8th local government term, including the promotion of integrated medical and nursing care, the push for designation as a free economic zone, the advancement of infectious disease prevention and response systems, the creation of Goyang-style smart farms, and the reorganization and launch of the Goyang International Expo Foundation. He discussed future directions to achieve results that citizens can truly feel.
