View original imageJindo County in South Jeolla Province successfully concluded the “2025 Jindo International Intangible Cultural Festival,” a four-day celebration of tradition and the arts.
The festival took place from October 30 to November 2 at the Jindo Local Culture Center and Cheolma Park, hosted by Jindo County and organized by the Jindo Cultural City Center.
Held under the theme “Flowing to the Next Generation,” the festival established itself as a global cultural event, bringing together Jindo’s representative traditional culture and intangible cultural heritage from around the world.
The opening ceremony was held on October 31, coinciding with the “Treasure Island Culture and Arts Festival Celebration Night,” and featured performances by renowned singers such as Song Gain, My Jin, Ulala Session, Choi Jinhee, and Seolhwa, further elevating the festival’s excitement.
The “Jindo Heritage Program,” representing Jindo’s traditions, showcased intangible heritage performances such as Jindo Dasiraegi, Jindo Ssitgimgut, Jindo Manga, Jindo Buknori Parade, and Ganggangsullae, vividly conveying Jindo’s unique artistic spirit and traditional beauty.
Additionally, domestic invited performances included Samdo Arirang (Miryang, Jeongseon, and Jindo), Anseong Baudeogi Pungmul Performance, and the Gangneung Danoje Gwanno Mask Drama. International performance teams featured the Maori “Haka” from New Zealand, “Tundra” from the Sakha Republic in Russia, and “West African Traditional Dance” from C?te d'Ivoire, showcasing the diversity of world traditional arts.
Other programs included the Jindo Artists Invitational Exhibition, exhibitions of intangible cultural heritage from Korea and abroad, and hands-on experiences such as learning Ganggangsullae and mastering drum rhythms, all of which were well received by families. At the “Jindo Culture Forum 2025,” participants explored ways to preserve and develop intangible heritage under the theme “The Global Value and Future of Our National Culture and Arts.”
