Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will hold the "21st National Uri Pear Festival" at Jeongeup Yeonji Art Hall on November 7.
According to the city on November 5, this event is organized by the Korea Uri Pear Research Association and hosted by Jeongeup City. It aims to widely promote the excellence of domestic pear varieties and honor the hard work of farmers who have contributed to the distribution of locally developed varieties.

In addition, there are plans to recognize contributors to the event and those who have advanced the pear industry.
This year, the pear industry has suffered significant damage during the growing season, including poor fruit set and deformed fruit due to low temperatures during the flowering period, making it difficult to secure export volumes. The festival has been organized to help overcome the stagnant atmosphere in the Korean pear industry.

Lee Yonggwan, Director of the Jeongeup Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Despite the recent challenges of decreasing cultivation area and production caused by climate change, the cultivation of domestically developed varieties is actually expanding.
