Jungnang District Newly Designated as a "Women-Friendly City Where Everyone Is Happy"
Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Recognizes Policy Achievements
Jungnang District in Seoul (Mayor Ryu Kyunggi) has been newly designated as a "Women-Friendly City for 2025" by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family. This designation is the result of high evaluations for Jungnang District's policy initiatives and public-private cooperation aimed at achieving the five major goals of a women-friendly city, including expanding women's participation in society, creating a safe local environment, and establishing a family-friendly atmosphere.

With this new designation, Jungnang District will fully implement the "Women-Friendly City Development Project," a key pledge of the 8th popularly elected administration.
After enacting the "Ordinance on the Creation of a Women-Friendly City in Jungnang District, Seoul" last year, Jungnang District has implemented a variety of policies, including evaluations and reward systems for outstanding departments in women-friendly city initiatives, support for employment and entrepreneurship in the local fashion and sewing industries, the "Happy Jungnang Village for All" safety project, the Jungnang-style integrated care project, and the operation of a gender equality activity center.
In addition, the district has established the Women-Friendly City Resident Participation Group, the Women's Employment Council, and the Women's Safety Council, creating a structure in which residents and experts jointly participate in policy formulation and implementation. This has helped spread a gender equality perspective throughout the community and is driving changes that residents can feel.
Jungnang District will hold a designation agreement ceremony for the women-friendly city on the 26th of this month, and plans to hold a plaque unveiling ceremony at the district office in December.
