The 11th Baroque Music Festival Showcasing Korean and Western Traditional Music
Daejeon Municipal Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center
A Rich Music Festival from November 8 to December 6
A platform introducing both Korean traditional music and Western traditional music will be presented.
The Daejeon Municipal Yeonjeong Korean Traditional Music Center, in collaboration with KBS Daejeon Broadcasting Station and Daejeon Arts Planning, will hold the '2025 Baroque of the World with Korean Music: The 11th Baroque Music Festival' to showcase traditional music from both East and West.
This performance will take place from November 8 to December 6 at the Grand Hall and Small Hall of the Korean Traditional Music Center.
Now in its 11th year, the Baroque Music Festival is a celebration that introduces both Korean and Western traditional music. It was launched to restore early music and to present the sounds performed on period instruments, rather than modern ones, to audiences.
In addition to the classical genre, the festival researches and restores Korean classical music, Eastern music, and ancient music from around the world, reinterpreting the most traditional music with a contemporary sensibility.
This year’s festival, led by Music Director Cho Sungyeon (Classical), will feature special performances by the Korean Traditional Music Center and a variety of programs.
On November 8, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Grand Hall, the family musical "Find General To," a creative reinterpretation of the Korean traditional pansori "Sugungga," will be staged. This performance tells a family story with humor and satire in a modernized way.
On December 6 at 5 p.m. in the Grand Hall, Handel’s oratorio "Messiah" will serve as the grand finale of the Baroque Music Festival. Mokwon University, with its 70-year tradition, has prepared this performance to coincide with the year-end season.
