Andong Hospital Sets a New Standard in Digital Healthcare
Andong's Only Hospital to Obtain 'Second Cycle EMR Certification'
Achieving the Triple Goals of Patient Safety, Medical Credibility, and International Competitiveness
Andong Hospital, operated by the Andong Medical Foundation (Chairman Kang Sinhong), has set a new milestone in digital healthcare innovation by becoming the only medical institution in the Andong region to obtain the "Second Cycle Electronic Medical Record (EMR) System Usage Certification," overseen by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Information Service.
The "Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Certification System" is a program that comprehensively evaluates a medical institution’s information system based on national standards for functionality, interoperability, and security, with the goal of strengthening patient safety and continuity of care.
Notably, the second cycle of certification, implemented this year, features much stricter standards for medical information standardization and inter-institutional data connectivity compared to the first cycle, firmly establishing a foundation for patient-centered use of medical data.
Andong Hospital received the "Type 3" certification, which applies to large and medium-sized general hospitals with more than 300 beds.
Through this achievement, the hospital has received national recognition for its standardized management of medical records, protection of patient information, and its capacity for exchanging medical information between hospitals. As a result of this certification, patients can now benefit from safer and more systematic medical services, while the hospital is able to manage medical information within a top-tier security environment.
This accomplishment follows Andong Hospital’s recent achievements, including the "Fourth Cycle Medical Institution Certification" by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and its designation as an "Official Partner Hospital for the 2025 APEC Summit." These milestones collectively demonstrate both the hospital’s medical quality and its global credibility.
With this, Andong Hospital has established itself as the region’s leading medical institution, equipped with a stable clinical system (EMR), operational reliability (Fourth Cycle Certification), and international medical cooperation capabilities (APEC).
Kang Sinhong, Chairman of Andong Hospital, stated, "These consecutive national certifications and international cooperation designations are a recognition of our philosophy that prioritizes patient safety and medical quality above all else. We will continue to advance our systems and drive medical innovation as a leading hospital in digital healthcare, growing as the central medical institution in northern Gyeongbuk."
This "Second Cycle EMR Certification" for Andong Hospital goes beyond a simple technology certification, serving as an opportunity to enhance the credibility of regional healthcare.
