"For Financial Gain"... Chinese Man Repeatedly Marries and Divorces Six Times Over 15 Years
"Marriage Fraud... Demanded Money Under Various Pretexts"
A Chinese man has been revealed to have committed marriage fraud against multiple women.
According to several Chinese media outlets, including China.com and Jimu News, "Mr. Yu married and divorced six times over approximately 15 years, from 2009 to 2024." The shortest marriage lasted just over a month, while even the longest did not exceed two years.
According to reports, the victim, Ms. Xiao, met Mr. Yu when he was a long-term guest at the hotel where she worked. In an interview, Ms. Xiao stated, "He drove a foreign car and gave me expensive gifts." She added, "When we talked about marriage, he said he was trying to buy a house but was short by several thousand yuan, and asked me to take out a loan." When Ms. Xiao refused to take out the loan, Mr. Yu presented her with a real estate ownership certificate two weeks later. Ms. Xiao explained, "He told me he had paid the down payment and asked me to add 45,000 yuan (about 907,000 won), so I gave him the money, but the ownership certificate turned out to be forged."
It was revealed that Mr. Yu frequently met with other women besides Ms. Xiao. Except for his first marriage, Mr. Yu demanded money and valuables under various pretexts in his subsequent marriages. The amount of damage reported ranges from at least 110,000 yuan (2,218,000 won) to as much as 600,000 yuan (12,100,000 won).
