The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Gyeongnam, announced the winners of the "2025 Changwon Commerce Awards" on November 4.
The Changwon Commerce Awards are the most prestigious honors in the local business community, recognizing and commending businesspeople who have contributed to the promotion and development of commerce and industry in the region. The awards are divided into the mid-sized and large enterprise category and the small and medium-sized enterprise category, with prizes presented in the fields of management, technology, labor, and regional contribution. The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry held a review committee meeting on October 24 and finalized the winners for each category.
For 2025, the winners in the mid-sized and large enterprise category are: ▲ Management Award: Sohn Jaeil, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace ▲ Technology Award: Kim Myunghyun, Executive Director of GMB Korea ▲ Labor Award: Lee Seungwon, Manager at Korea GM Changwon Plant ▲ Regional Contribution Award: LG Electronics.
In the small and medium-sized enterprise category, the winners are: ▲ Management Award: Woo Youngjun, Chairman of Korea Yanase ▲ Technology Award: Choi Jinin, Senior Manager at Samhyun ▲ Labor Award: Choi Changsik, Team Leader at Samwoo Metal Industry ▲ Regional Contribution Award: Monggo Foods.
Sohn Jaeil, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, recipient of the Management Award in the mid-sized and large enterprise category, achieved record-high performance after taking office in 2023, based on large-scale overseas contracts in countries such as Poland and Norway. This year, he is also expected to achieve another record performance through contracts with India and Poland. In addition, he has been making efforts to nurture local talent, such as establishing the "Hanwha Aerospace Defense Industry Program" in cooperation with Changwon National University.
Chairman Woo Youngjun, leveraging his outstanding management skills, was the first in Korea to manufacture and export Hatch Covers after founding the company. To respond to the rapidly changing shipbuilding industry, he established a research institute and designed and manufactured the world's first 18,000 TEU Lashing Bridge, even filing for a patent, thus establishing the company as the world's leading Lashing Bridge manufacturer and enhancing its competitiveness. He is also actively engaged in supporting elderly residents living alone and underprivileged neighbors in Samjin-myeon, contributing to regional development.

The Changwon Commerce Awards ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. on November 11 at the Changwon Rivera Convention. This year's ceremony will be held in conjunction with the 125th anniversary celebration of the Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
