"Declaration of War": People Power Party Boycotts President Lee's Policy Speech over Chu Kyung-ho Warrant (Update)
People Power Party Holds Condemnation Assembly Ahead of Policy Speech
"Request for Choo Kyungho's Arrest Warrant Is Oppression of the Opposition"
On the 4th, the People Power Party declared a boycott ahead of President Lee Jae-myung's policy speech on next year's government budget. The party views the special investigation team's request for an arrest warrant for former floor leader Chu Kyung-ho as "oppression of the opposition" and plans to continue its silent protest.
Choi Sujin, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party's parliamentary group, met with reporters during the party's general assembly at the National Assembly and said, "We have decided not to enter the main chamber today," adding, "We will strongly condemn this in the National Assembly's Rotunda Hall."

The People Power Party defined this as "oppression of the opposition" and moved to denounce it. On this day, the party held its general assembly dressed in mourning attire and then staged a silent protest in the Rotunda Hall, wearing black masks.
Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, strongly criticized the three major special prosecutors during the general assembly. Jang stated, "The special prosecutor's briefing on former floor leader Chu omits charges of abuse of authority and obstruction of the exercise of rights-so what exactly is the alleged conspiracy?" He further argued, "Special Prosecutor Cho Eunsuk exhausted his mandate with yesterday's warrant request."
He went on to stress that it is time to scrutinize President Lee Jae-myung's judicial risks. Jang said, "The blank shots fired by the three major special prosecutors have all disappeared. We have come out of the tunnel, and now it is time for the Lee Jae-myung administration to enter it." He added, "We must pool all our efforts to ensure that President Lee Jae-myung's five trials can resume. This must be the last policy speech."

Song Eon-seok, floor leader of the People Power Party, also declared a war against the government and the ruling party. Song stated, "If the opposition is not only unrespected but not even acknowledged, then the opposition cannot respect the president or the ruling party either." He continued, "We can never tolerate the political retaliation investigation against the former floor leader of the opposition, which denies the People Power Party and insults our five million party members."
