Over 2,000 citizens gathered at the '31st Gimpo Agricultural Grand Festival,' which served as a bridge from the present to the future, making the event a great success. The festival brought together various sights, activities, and foods related to Gimpo agriculture in one place, creating a rich experience and evolving into a venue for unity between farmers and citizens.

View original imageGimpo City announced that the festival, held for two days from November 1 to November 2 at Sau Cultural and Sports Square, concluded successfully with the participation of agricultural organizations, groups, and citizens. The event, themed 'Gimpo Agriculture Connecting Today and Cultivating Tomorrow,' was organized to highlight the value of agriculture and boost the pride of farmers. The festival integrated several agriculture-related events, including a ceremony for Farmers' Day, a ginseng festival, the Geumbit Naru event, and livestock tasting and promotional activities.
The 31st Farmers' Day ceremony featured a pre-event performance, commemorative addresses, congratulatory speeches, and awards for 37 outstanding farmers in various agricultural fields. The 2025 Farmer of the Year award went to Kim Kiyong from Daegot-myeon.
During the festival, there were exhibitions and sales of local agricultural and specialty products, promotional booths run by farmers' organizations, a citizen talent show, busking performances, and a kimchi-making experience. These diverse attractions and hands-on activities received an enthusiastic response from citizens.

In particular, during the kimchi-making experience, citizens participated directly in preparing napa cabbage kimchi, and members of the Korea Home Economics Association Gimpo Branch made turnip kimchi using turnips grown in their communal field. Both types of kimchi were delivered to vulnerable groups in the community through the Gimpo Welfare Foundation, adding a meaningful spirit of sharing to the event.
In his commemorative address, Kim Byungsoo, Mayor of Gimpo City, offered words of comfort to farmers who faced difficulties this year due to high temperatures in the summer and rain in the autumn caused by climate change. He stated, "We will not forget the sweat and dedicated efforts of our farmers throughout the year. Gimpo City is considering various measures, including smart agriculture and promoting rice consumption, to advance Gimpo agriculture." He added, "We will create new spaces that can be used not only by farmers but also by citizens, and together with our citizens, we will shape a new future for Gimpo where agriculture can grow alongside the community."
