Nation’s First Attempt... Introducing AI-Based Crackdown on Illegal Motorcycle Traffic

The city has installed AI-based enforcement CCTV cameras at major entrances and along walking trails within the park to detect and enforce against illegal motorcycle traffic in real time, with the goal of creating a pleasant and safe pedestrian environment.
This system automatically detects illegal motorcycle entry in the park by recognizing objects within video footage and secures immediate enforcement evidence through license plate recognition functionality.
In particular, this system is designed so that both drivers and citizens can directly perceive enforcement at the scene. When the AI camera detects an illegal motorcycle, the vehicle's license plate number is immediately displayed on an LED electronic signboard, allowing the driver to directly confirm the enforcement action.
At the same time, the details of the enforcement are announced in real time via an AI speaker, raising drivers' awareness. Additionally, at night, a smart projector projects visual enforcement messages onto the ground, making it easy for any citizen to recognize the enforcement situation.
The city expects that this multi-dimensional notification method will not only improve the efficiency of enforcement but also increase drivers' voluntary compliance with the law.
During the two-week pilot period, the city will comprehensively analyze the AI system's detection rate, the reduction rate of illegal motorcycle operations, and the number of civil complaints to verify the effectiveness of the project. Based on the results of this performance analysis, the city plans to implement a full-scale enforcement system.
Mayor Lee Hyunjae of Hanam City stated, "This AI-based enforcement service is not just technology for enforcement, but a new attempt at smart administration to protect citizens' safety," adding, "With the combination of LED electronic signboards, AI voice guidance, and nighttime smart projectors, citizens will be able to directly experience the enforcement in action."
