Byungsoo Choi Inaugurated as 6th President of Korea Institute of Climate Change Research

View original imageThe newly appointed president, Byungsoo Choi, is currently serving as a visiting professor at the Graduate School of Global Cooperation at Hallym University and an invited professor at Kangwon National University. He has been recognized for leading efforts in DMZ ecological surveys, preventing environmental degradation, and developing strategies to respond to climate disasters.
President Choi previously served as editorial writer and editorial director at the Kangwon Ilbo, and has contributed to regional development as a member of the Presidential Committee for National Unity, the Regional Committee for the Presidential Committee on Local Autonomy, and as an expert advisor for Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province.

In his inauguration speech, President Byungsoo Choi emphasized, "Let us make the Korea Institute of Climate Change Research a stronghold in responding to a society facing climate disasters," and added, "I will take the lead in developing the institute into a world-class research organization." He also stated, "As Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province has selected climate technology as a future industry, let us ensure that the institute leads the climate technology sector and transforms Gangwon Province into a global city."
