Notably, this year, the 'Global Standards Strategy Seminar,' which Korea had previously organized independently, will be co-hosted with major international organizations such as the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT), and the Telecommunication Technology Committee (TTC) of Japan, adding further significance to the event.
Through these efforts, the Intellectual Property Office expects that GISC will establish itself as a practical international standardization cooperation platform, going beyond a simple conference to serve as a venue for governments worldwide to design ICT standardization visions.
GISC will be conducted with separate global and domestic tracks. The global track will feature: ▲ Global Standards Strategy Seminar I (Physical AI, Quantum, 6G) ▲ Global Standards Strategy Seminar II (Strengthening Standardization Capabilities) ▲ Korea-China-Japan IT Standards Cooperation Meeting ▲ Korea-EU Standards Strategy Workshop, among others.
The domestic track will include: ▲ ICT Standards and Patent Achievements Presentation ▲ ICT Standards Patent Seminar ▲ ICT Future Innovation Standards Seminar ▲ AI Ethics, Safety, and Reliability Seminar ▲ ICT Standards Consulting, International Standardization Experts and Standardization Forum Achievements Sharing and Activities Briefing, and more.

Kim Jeonggyun, Director General of the Intellectual Property Policy Bureau at the Intellectual Property Office, stated, "Intellectual property and standards are emerging as core strategic tools for securing 'technological sovereignty' in the era of technological hegemony competition. The Intellectual Property Office will strengthen support to help domestic companies secure competitiveness in standard-essential patents, enabling them to lead in the global market and improve the technology trade balance."
