Police Refer Former Presidential Candidate Kim Moonsoo to Prosecution Without Detention on Charges of Violating Election Law
Kim Moonsoo, a former presidential candidate from the People Power Party, who distributed business cards to voters as a preliminary candidate in the 21st presidential election, has been referred to the prosecution on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act.
On October 31, the Public Crime Investigation Unit of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced that Kim, the former candidate accused of violating the Public Official Election Act, was sent to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office without detention the previous day.
Kim is accused of conducting election campaigning by handing out his business cards to voters at Suseo Station on the GTX-A line while he was still a preliminary candidate. The Public Official Election Act prohibits preliminary candidates from distributing business cards inside the ticket gates of terminals, stations, and airports.
