President Trump wore a navy suit, a red tie, and a red cap embroidered with "USA," while Melania Trump wore a brown coat over an orange dress.
This event was the first Halloween celebration held at the White House since the start of President Trump's second administration. President Trump presided over the event just hours after returning from a six-day tour of Asia, which included Malaysia, Japan, and South Korea. The day also marked the 30th day of the ongoing federal government shutdown.
President Trump and First Lady Melania handed out Hershey's chocolate bars and Twizzlers to children and parents from boxes bearing the presidential seal. Upon seeing the long line stretching along the White House driveway, President Trump joked, "The line looks almost as long as a new ballroom," according to the Associated Press. After distributing gifts bearing his signature to invited families, he left the event with First Lady Melania without giving a separate speech.

Despite the fact that U.S. importers, retailers, and consumers have been experiencing costume shortages and price increases for Halloween due to the tariffs imposed on China by the Trump administration this year, the White House was decorated with abundant autumn ornaments as usual. Large maple leaves and red and orange chrysanthemums adorned the exterior walls, and pumpkins were lined up along the steps leading to the balcony.
