Gwangju Seogu Launches "Kind Shopping" Campaign Until December
Held Every Friday
Traditional Markets Expected to Gain New Vitality
Seogu District in Gwangju will run the "Kind Shopping" campaign every Friday until December.
According to Seogu District on October 30, this campaign was launched to revive consumer sentiment, which has been dampened by high inflation and high interest rates, and to inject vitality into traditional markets.
Seogu District held a "Shopping Together at Traditional Markets" event under the theme "A Kind Step for Revitalizing Traditional Markets" to support traditional markets struggling with domestic demand stagnation due to high inflation and high interest rates at Yangdong Traditional Market, encouraging the merchants. Seogu District has invigorated local commercial areas by being the first in the country to designate all areas as alley-type shopping districts, which has led to a surge in the use of Onnuri gift certificates.
This campaign aims to spread this consumer enthusiasm to traditional markets and promote the recovery of the local economy. In particular, Seogu District plans to encourage spending at stores registered as "Kind Stores," thereby fostering a virtuous cycle of sharing within the local economy.
Previously, on October 24, Seogu District Mayor Kim Ikang and about 80 public officials visited Yangdong Traditional Market and practiced "kind consumption" by purchasing daily necessities themselves.
The public officials said, "We could feel the renewed energy as we walked through the market," and added, "It was an opportunity to rediscover Yangdong Traditional Market."
