Busan Port Authority Discusses Port Cooperation with Chile’s San Antonio Port Authority
Strengthening Cooperation Between Strategic Port of the South Pacific and Busan Port
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sangkeun) announced on October 29 that Ramon Castaneda, President of the San Antonio Port Authority in Chile, visited Busan Port to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides.
This visit was arranged to benchmark Busan Port Authority’s experience in port operation and development, as well as to promote information exchange and establish a cooperative relationship between the two organizations regarding port operations.
San Antonio Port in Chile is the country’s largest port, handling more than 30% of Chile’s total maritime cargo and serving as a key hub for foreign trade. Currently, the port is pursuing an outer harbor development project to accommodate rapidly increasing cargo volumes.
During the meeting, both sides discussed a range of cooperation topics, including sustainable port development, smart port technologies, and ways to improve logistics efficiency.
Song Sangkeun, President of Busan Port Authority, stated, “I hope this meeting will serve as an opportunity for San Antonio Port, a strategic logistics hub in the South Pacific, and Busan Port to work even more closely together.”

After the meeting, the San Antonio Port Authority delegation toured the North Port’s Sinseondae and Gamman terminals, as well as the New Port’s PR center, inspecting Busan Port’s operational systems and port infrastructure.
