The Subtropical Agriculture Pavilion is a space where various subtropical crops such as bananas, papayas, mangoes, and mini pineapples, all cultivated directly by Hampyeong County, are grown. The moment visitors step inside, they can experience the vivid sensation of traveling through a tropical rainforest.
At the entrance, a tunnel-shaped installation made from the rare tropical fruit known as "Geok (Geuk)" captures the attention of visitors, while inside, a tropical garden-like landscape unfolds, featuring star-shaped starfruit, papayas, mini pineapples, and banana trees.
In addition, monkey dolls and toucan sculptures are placed throughout the pavilion, making it a popular photo spot for families with children.
The "Banana Harvest Experience," held every weekend, continues to attract a steady stream of family visitors. This program is offered twice a day, at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, for children aged 5 to 13, with each session accepting up to 30 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.
This hands-on experience, where children harvest bananas and learn about the ecology of tropical crops, has been highly praised as both educational and enjoyable, with each session filling up quickly due to its popularity.
