View original imageOn October 27, the Korean Traditional Simmani Association (hereinafter referred to as the Simmani Association) announced that a cluster of 24 Cheonjong wild ginseng roots was found on the slopes of Jirisan in Unbong-eup, Namwon, North Jeolla Province.
The appraised value is 128 million won.
Cheonjong wild ginseng refers to wild ginseng that has grown naturally for more than four generations in mountain areas untouched by humans.
According to the Simmani Association, a 66-year-old wild herb gatherer surnamed Jeong discovered the ginseng in a valley at an altitude of about 700 meters, consisting of rocky terrain.
Appraisal results indicate that the largest mother ginseng root is estimated to be over 80 years old, with a root length of approximately 40 centimeters. The total weight of the 24 roots is 152 grams.
Jeong Hyeongbeom, President of the Korean Traditional Simmani Association, stated, "The color, shape, aroma, and taste of this wild ginseng are truly exceptional."

Meanwhile, Cheonjong wild ginseng was also discovered in May. Hwang Suchul, a 66-year-old wild herb gatherer from Hamyang, South Gyeongsang Province, found 30 roots of Cheonjong wild ginseng, estimated to be over 70 years old, on the slopes of Jirisan in Hamyang. The appraised value of these ginseng roots was set at 170 million won.
