Gwangju City Implements 18% Special Cashback for Sangsaeng Check Card Users
Linked to the 'Korea Grand Festival' Until November 9
Boosting Consumption... Increased Sales Expected for Small Business Owners and the Self-Employed
On October 27, Gwangju City announced that it will hold a special discount event offering an additional 5% cashback on purchases made with the Gwangju Win-Win Check Card during the 'Korea Grand Festival,' which runs from October 29 to November 9. This bold measure adds 5% to the existing 13% basic discount rate, providing a total cashback benefit of 18%.
This event is designed to stimulate local consumption and boost sales for small business owners by linking up with a large-scale consumption promotion campaign led by the government. Any citizen who uses the Gwangju Win-Win Check Card anywhere in Gwangju during the event period is eligible for the benefit. However, the Gwangju Win-Win Prepaid Card, which operates on a pre-discount basis, is excluded from this cashback event, and the additional 5% cashback for designated special disaster areas (Buk-gu, Eoryong-dong and Samdo-dong in Gwangsan-gu) cannot be combined with this promotion.
The city expects that this special cashback policy will help revive the stagnant local consumer sentiment and make a tangible contribution to increasing sales for small business owners and the self-employed. Earlier this year, in January and February, the city implemented a 'Gwangju Win-Win Card Special Discount (10%)', which resulted in a 42% year-on-year surge in usage.
Jeon Youngbok, Director of Economic Policy, stated, "During the Korea Grand Festival, not only will there be additional cashback for Gwangju Win-Win Check Card users, but also special cashback for digital Onnuri gift certificates and special discounts across all sectors, including automobiles, home appliances, and agricultural, livestock, and marine products." He added, "We hope that citizens' rational and warm-hearted spending will serve as a foundation for revitalizing the local economy."
