Incheon Social Welfare Center Relocation Project Passes Central Investment Review... Completion Set for 2028
On October 24, Incheon City announced that the project to construct a new Incheon Social Welfare Center in Hakik-dong, Michuhol-gu by 2028 has passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
The new center will be built at a total cost of 65.5 billion won, consisting of a welfare center with three underground and nine above-ground floors and a total floor area of 13,754 square meters, as well as a community space with three above-ground floors and a total floor area of 1,113 square meters.
In addition to offices for social welfare organizations and groups, the welfare center will house the Michuhol Comprehensive Home Care Center, a large auditorium and meeting rooms, and a promotional hall for welfare products. The community space, which will be open to the general public, is planned to include a library, seminar rooms, study rooms, and other amenities for citizens.
Going forward, the city plans to proceed with administrative procedures such as commissioning a public architecture review, holding a design competition, and carrying out basic and detailed design services, with the goal of completing the project by 2028.
Currently, Incheon has a social welfare center located in Ganseok-dong, Namdong-gu, which consists of seven above-ground floors and a total floor area of 9,497 square meters, housing 28 social welfare organizations and groups. The Ganseok-dong center was built in 1996, and due to its aging facilities, limited office space, and insufficient parking, the need for a new center has been consistently raised.
