KOREATECH Unveils the Future of Vocational Education with AI and the Metaverse
Over 100 Representatives from ILO, CNAM, HdBA, and Leading Global Vocational Institutions Participate
Discussions on Innovation in Global TVET
Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH) has presented a blueprint for global innovation in vocational education, centered on artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse, in response to the era of major industrial and technological transformation.
On October 24, KOREATECH successfully held the '2025 International TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Conference' at Rendezvous Hall, Seoul Dragon City.
Under the theme 'Innovation and Global Cooperation in Vocational Education and Training with KOREATECH,' the event brought together vocational education experts from around the world to explore the future direction of vocational education in the digital transformation era.
More than 100 representatives from major domestic and international institutions attended, including the International Labour Organization (ILO), Conservatoire National des Arts et M?tiers (CNAM) of France, University of Applied Labour Studies (HdBA) of Germany, Korea Polytechnic University, and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training.
President Yoo Gil-sang stated, "KOREATECH has established a variety of vocational training systems to meet industry demands through the Institute of Vocational Competency Development, the Online Lifelong Education Institute, and the Vocational Competency Evaluation Institute," adding, "I hope this conference will serve as a starting point for new possibilities in digital transformation and global cooperation."
During the event, KOREATECH's digital-based education innovation model was introduced through presentations, including: the achievements of the 'STEP' smart vocational training platform by Lee Moon-soo, Director of the Online Lifelong Education Institute; the operation of the international master's program 'Global TVET Management' by Cho Nam-min, Director of External Cooperation; and the 'Training Instructor Development System' by Lee Jin-gu, Director of the Institute of Vocational Competency Development.
Additionally, Andreas Jankovic, Secretary General of HdBA in Germany, presented cases of dual-system-based vocational education, and Professor Maite Sylla of CNAM in France introduced the CAP'VR project, suggesting directions for international cooperation centered on higher education institutions.
In the panel discussion, representatives from ILO headquarters, the Asia-Pacific branch, ITCILO, HdBA, and CNAM engaged in an active debate on the topic of 'The Future of Digital Transformation and Global Partnerships for Innovation in Vocational Education and Training.'
In particular, there was in-depth discussion on the impact of new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and the metaverse on the labor market and education and training systems, as well as the potential for joint cooperation models with KOREATECH.
Meanwhile, on October 23, KOREATECH held a working meeting with ITCILO representatives to discuss the design of a joint master's program based on AI tutors, 3D studios, and the metaverse.
