Korea Importers Association and Aliexpress Verify Safety of Autumn Products
Korea Importers Association Conducts Inspections on High-Demand Autumn Products
Only 2 Out of 30 Halloween Items Found Non-Compliant
Distribution Halted for Substandard Products... Aliexpress Korea Steps Up Monitoring
The Korea Importers Association announced on October 24 that it conducted safety inspections on camping and hiking gear, as well as Halloween-related products, which have seen a surge in overseas direct purchases during the autumn season.
This inspection was carried out as part of the 'Strengthening Safety Management of Overseas Direct Purchase Products' cooperation project, jointly promoted by the association and Aliexpress Korea, to address the safety management blind spots of overseas direct purchase products and to prevent consumer harm. Five domestic accredited testing and inspection agencies (KTR, KCL, KATRI, KOTITI, and FITI) participated in the inspection, focusing on physical safety and the presence of hazardous substances.
Out of a total of 203 items inspected, 187 products (92.2%) met domestic safety standards, while 16 items (7.8%) failed to meet the criteria. Among the 30 Halloween-related products inspected, 2 were found to be non-compliant, which the association explained as an overall favorable result.
Aliexpress Korea has immediately suspended sales of products that failed the inspection and is strengthening monitoring within the platform to prevent the re-listing of identical items. The association stated, "We have completed distribution blocking measures for products that do not meet domestic safety standards."
The association added, "We plan to strengthen regular safety inspections and information disclosure for items with high seasonal demand," and continued, "We will continue to expand our cooperation system with Aliexpress Korea to create a safer environment for overseas direct purchases."
Meanwhile, the association conducted safety inspections on water play products and summer season items in August. For the winter season, it plans to carry out safety inspections on key seasonal products, including heating products and electrical appliances.
