Shinsegae Presents Original Children's Play with Hanbit Arts Troupe for the Visually Impaired
A Slightly Special Pinocchio Performed by the Orchestra
To Be Held at the National Theater on the 28th
Shinsegae announced on the 24th that it will present a children's performance titled "A Slightly Special Pinocchio Performed by the Orchestra" in collaboration with Hanbit Arts Troupe, an orchestra specializing in visually impaired musicians.
This performance, which debuted last year, is an original children's play planned by Shinsegae to support the independence of musicians with disabilities, enhance their musical skills, and expand performance opportunities. The fairy tale of Pinocchio has been adapted with Hanbit Arts Troupe's unique touch.
The story follows Pinocchio, who cannot see, as he embarks on various adventures and learns to love himself just as he is. It delivers a message to young audiences about the importance of self-worth and the value of living together as "us."
The first performance took place on September 8 at Banpo Sinsan Art Hall, and the second performance will be held on the 28th at the National Theater of Korea's Haneul Theater. The final, third performance will be staged on November 22 at Eunpyeong Culture and Arts Center.
Shinsegae Department Store and Hanbit Arts Troupe have continued their partnership for 16 years since their first performance at the department store's Culture Hall in 2010. In 2023, Shinsegae supported the 20th anniversary concert of Hanbit Arts Troupe.
Hanbit Arts Troupe was designated as a "Seoul Metropolitan City Professional Arts Organization" in 2018 and was selected as an "Outstanding Private Arts Organization Performance Program" from 2017 to 2022, thereby expanding its scope of activities.
