View original imageOn the morning of the same day, Governor Lee visited the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, and held talks with CEO Lee. The Tennessee delegation included Stuart McCotter, Commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, as well as deputy commissioners. Key executives from SK On were also reportedly present at the meeting.
During the meeting, Governor Lee and CEO Lee were reported to have discussed cooperation measures regarding the operation of BlueOval SK's Tennessee plant and the development of the local community.
BlueOval SK, a joint venture between SK On and Ford, is currently constructing a battery plant in Tennessee with an annual capacity of 45 gigawatt-hours (GWh). This capacity is sufficient to supply batteries for approximately 600,000 electric vehicles, based on a 70 kilowatt-hour (KWh) battery per vehicle.

This is Governor Lee's first visit to Korea in six years since 2019. During his stay, Governor Lee is also scheduled to meet with other major corporate leaders who have invested in Tennessee, including Shin Hakcheol, Vice Chairman of LG Chem, Kim Dongmyung, CEO of LG Energy Solution, as well as representatives from LG Electronics and Hyosung Heavy Industries, to discuss further cooperation.
