Presenting a Roadmap for Global Advancement
Sacheon City, led by Mayor Park Dongsik and known as the "Aerospace Capital of Korea," is presenting its future vision to become a world-class aerospace city alongside the opening of the Korea Aerospace Administration.
On October 23, Sacheon City announced that, in cooperation with Gyeongsangnam-do Province, it will host the "2025 Global AeroSpace Symposium @ Sacheon" at the Sacheon City Hall Grand Auditorium on October 30.
The event is organized by Gyeongsang National University (GADIST) and Gyeongnam Technopark (Gyeongnam TP), with more than 300 participants expected, including domestic and international representatives from the aerospace industry, academia, research institutes, government, and the military.
This symposium is designed for Sacheon City, the center of Korea’s aerospace industry, to lead global aerospace trends and explore future development strategies.
The city plans to share the success stories of world-renowned aerospace cities such as Toulouse in France and Quebec in Canada, further strengthening the implementation of its ongoing "Aerospace Convergence City" development strategy.
During the keynote lectures, Thilo Schonfeld from the Toulouse Aerospace Valley in France will present on "Success Factors of Toulouse as a World-Class Aerospace City," while Damien Pereira from the Ministry of Economy, Innovation and Energy of Quebec, Canada, will speak on "Quebec, a Global Hub for the Aviation Industry."
Following this, Cho Sungcheol, Director of the National Territorial Research Institute, will present "The Establishment and Future Direction of Korea’s Aerospace Convergence City," sharing Sacheon’s vision for the future.
The main presentations will include topics such as the expansion of Airbus’s business in Korea, "Trends and Development Strategies for Satellite and AAV Development" by Kim Jihong, Executive Vice President of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and "Proposals for Nuri and the Industrialization of Space" by Dr. Kang Seonil of Hanwha Aerospace, among others.
In addition, promising domestic startups such as Innospace (Hanbit launch vehicle technology) and MEISA (AI-based satellite image analysis) will participate, further strengthening the competitiveness of the aerospace industry ecosystem centered in Sacheon.
