Legal Counseling, Condition Investigations, and More
The ordinance bill titled "Ordinance to Prevent Damages to Applicants for Gwangju Seo-gu Regional Housing Cooperatives," sponsored by Hyungmi Kim, a member of the Gwangju Seo-gu Council, passed the relevant standing committee on the 21st.
This ordinance aims to provide sufficient information in advance to residents seeking to join regional housing cooperatives, in order to protect them from damages caused by false or exaggerated advertisements and unfair contracts. It also seeks to establish an institutional framework to safeguard the property rights of residents.
In particular, for the first time in the country, the ordinance requires that the results of investigations into the actual conditions of regional housing cooperatives be reported to the district council. This provision is expected to have a practical preventive effect by enabling objective understanding of the damages and facilitating proactive responses.
The main provisions include: ▲ production and distribution of a guide to precautions for joining regional housing cooperatives ▲ legal counseling and actual condition investigations ▲ promotion and education initiatives ▲ establishment of information disclosure and cooperation systems.
On the 22nd, Council Member Kim stated, "As disputes and guarantee accidents related to regional housing cooperatives have been occurring nationwide, there is a need for an institutional foundation that enables residents to make safe decisions based on sufficient information. I hope that the enactment of this ordinance will protect the rights and property of Seo-gu residents and contribute to the creation of a sound residential culture."
