Hyunjo Yoo, who was named Rookie of the Year in 2024, is now aiming for the Player of the Year award.
From October 24 for three days, she will compete for victory at the Gwangnam Ilbo Happiness Open on the Korea Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour, held at Happiness Country Club (par 72, 6,727 yards) in Naju, South Jeolla Province. The tournament offers a total prize fund of 1 billion won. This year, only three events remain on the KLPGA Tour: the Gwangnam Ilbo Happiness Open, the S-OIL Championship (October 30-November 2), and the Daebo HausD Championship (November 7-9).

She currently leads the Player of the Year points race with 658 points, holds the lowest scoring average at 69.80, and ranks third on the money list with 1,253,169,148 won. The top spot on the money list is held by Jungmin Hong with 1,306,256,667 won-a difference of 53,087,519 won. If Yoo secures another win in the remaining tournaments, she could achieve a triple crown.

Hyunjo Yoo has also maintained strong form recently, recording one win, two runner-up finishes, and one finish each in third through fifth place over her last ten tournaments, for a total of six top-five results. She stated, "My goal for this year was two victories. I am determined to win this tournament and achieve my goal." She added, "I have focused a lot on short game training," expressing her strong resolve to compete for the Player of the Year title this season.
