Kumoh National Institute of Technology Holds Artist Talk with International Students
"Enjoy Local Artists' Works with International Students!"
Solo Exhibition of Young Local Artist Choi Daekwang Opens
Kumoh National Institute of Technology (President Kwak Hosang) held an Artist Talk event in conjunction with an art exhibition, inviting international students from local universities to participate.
This Artist Talk, targeting international students enrolled at Kumoh National Institute of Technology and Gumi University, was held on October 20 in connection with the solo exhibition of local young artist Choi Daekwang.
The event was designed to enhance foreign students' access to local arts and culture, and to offer an opportunity to understand the artistic world of a young Korean artist. As an open, participatory program, local residents were also able to join.
Choi Daekwang, whose works are currently on display at Gallery Sinpyeonggwan until October 31, led the Artist Talk, personally introducing the symbolism, narrative, and materials used in his works. He also engaged in a free Q&A session with the international students.
Choi Daekwang, a graduate of the Department of Sculpture at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Ulsan, has participated in various public and private projects, including the TEAF International Installation Art Festival. He is currently working as a first-term resident artist at the Gumi Residency Program.
Choi Daekwang stated, "I hope that the sculptural works in this exhibition, which aim to transform everyday objects into new symbols and interpretations, will open up new possibilities for interpretation through participants from diverse cultural backgrounds. I also hope this opportunity allowed more young people and international students in the region to form an artistic rapport."
