Gwangmyeong City Sets Next Year's Living Wage at 11,830 Won... 3.3% Increase
Applied to 700 Workers at the City and City-Funded Institutions
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 20th that it has set next year's living wage at 11,830 won. This amount is a 3.3% increase from this year's living wage of 11,450 won and is 14.6% higher than the national minimum wage for next year, which the government announced as 10,320 won.
The living wage is paid to ensure a minimum standard for a humane and culturally decent life. It applies to approximately 700 workers employed by the city, city-funded and city-invested institutions, and private consignment agencies.
Those eligible for the living wage will receive 2,472,470 won per month, based on an eight-hour workday and a total of 209 working hours per month.

Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong City, said, "This year's living wage was determined by comprehensively considering various factors to improve the lives of our citizens," adding, "We will continue our efforts to ensure that the living wage system provides practical support in enhancing the quality of life for workers."
