Notably, this year’s event will be co-hosted with the Korea Working Group (OpenChain-KWG) of the 'OpenChain' project by the Linux Foundation, a leading global open source organization, adding significance in terms of global collaboration.
Tech Day will consist of five sessions: ▲Keynote speeches ▲Open source policy and trends ▲Open source research and development by developers and communities ▲Open source compliance, among others.
The keynote speeches will be delivered by Heather Meeker, a world-renowned authority on open source law, and Eom Uisang, Director of the Software Engineering Research Center at LG Electronics.
The open source policy and trends session will address topics such as sovereign AI, software supply chain management, the role of open source in the open science ecosystem, and intellectual property rights (IPR) issues in open source AI, all from legal and policy perspectives.
The open source and research and development session will introduce R&D achievements led by government-funded research institutes and companies. This session will feature presentations on ▲On-device robot intelligence linked with domestic AI semiconductors ▲AI Agents ▲Open source and AI in bio research ▲AI data compliance tool EXAONE NEXUS ▲VARCO, a type of sovereign AI, and more.
The developers and community session will provide a platform for developers active in the field to share their firsthand experiences, including topics such as Open5GS, the personal growth journey of a CNCF ambassador, AI coding agents, and firmware license issues.
The open source compliance session will be operated in collaboration with OpenChain-KWG, and is expected to serve as a venue for major domestic companies to share the current status of open source compliance.
Bang Seungchan, President of ETRI, said, "Data reliability and the utilization of open source are core tasks for R&D innovation in the AI era," adding, "We expect Tech Day to serve as a stepping stone for domestic institutions and companies to cooperate in building a sustainable open source ecosystem."
