Government Joint Response Team Meets Cambodian Prime Minister... Discusses Repatriation of Detained Koreans
The government joint response team, which was urgently dispatched to address the frequent employment scams and abduction and confinement cases targeting Korean nationals in Cambodia, will meet with the Cambodian Prime Minister to discuss response measures.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on October 16, the government joint response team, led by Second Vice Minister Kim Jin-a, will pay a courtesy visit to Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh this morning. Prior to this, the team is also scheduled to meet with the Secretary-General of the Cambodian Online Scam Response Committee to discuss countermeasures.
During this meeting, discussions are expected to include the repatriation of over 60 Korean nationals who were detained in July and September as a result of crackdowns by Cambodian authorities. In addition, fundamental solutions to resolve the ongoing employment scams and abduction and confinement cases targeting Koreans in Cambodia are also expected to be addressed.
