A New Chapter of Cooperation: Ulsan City and Uzbekistan's Fergana Region Sign Sister City Agreement
October 16: Expanding Industrial, Cultural, and Human Exchanges Expected
On October 16 at 4:00 p.m., Ulsan City will sign a sister city agreement in the main conference room on the second floor of Ulsan City Hall, with Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom, Bozarov Khayrulla, Governor of Fergana Region in Uzbekistan, and about 20 other key officials in attendance.
This agreement is being pursued based on the "Letter of Intent for Friendly Exchange and Cooperation" signed during Ulsan City's overseas delegation visit to Fergana Region in March, which aimed to collaborate on shipbuilding workforce training projects.
Through this agreement, Ulsan City and Fergana Region plan to formalize their ongoing commitment to exchange and expand the scope of their cooperation.
Under the agreement, the two cities will broaden exchanges and cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, science and technology, culture, education, and human resources. They also plan to support corporate investment and private sector exchanges, while strengthening communication and cooperation on matters of mutual interest.
Cooperation is already yielding tangible results. Skilled shipbuilding workers trained at the Ulsan Global Human Resources Training Center established in Fergana Region are being employed in the local shipbuilding industry through the "Ulsan Employment Permit System" pilot project, providing practical relief to the skilled labor shortage.
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom stated, "Today marks a meaningful day as the two cities open a new chapter of cooperation that connects industry, people, and culture. I hope that vibrant exchanges in not only the economy but also various fields will help both cities develop a close cooperative relationship."
