The multilateral agreement signed on this day focuses on mutual cooperation to achieve five joint objectives: promoting sustainable industrial and environmental development; fostering small and medium-sized enterprises and supporting technology-based startups; facilitating knowledge transfer and joint research collaboration; enhancing capacity building and policy dialogue; and strengthening partnerships for regional and global cooperation.
This marks the first collaboration between the Special Zone Foundation and UNIDO. Through this partnership, the Special Zone Foundation will expand its role as a global technology commercialization platform and contribute to strengthening overseas expansion and cooperation for companies within the special zones.
UNIDO, headquartered in Vienna, Austria, is a UN-affiliated organization specializing in industrial and technological cooperation, supporting sustainable growth and industrial development in developing countries. Currently, more than 170 countries are members.
Under the agreement, the Special Zone Foundation and UNIDO will gradually implement multilateral projects centered on the Incheon Innovation Special Zone, including knowledge transfer, joint research, and pilot projects related to the environmental industry. They also plan to establish a collaborative ecosystem that links industry, academia, research institutes, and international organizations through green technology development, technology commercialization for small and medium-sized enterprises, policy consulting, and training programs.
